Update on 11th April 2001 - Unfortunately all copies have now
been sold. David Wraight (see below) is taking names and addresses of interested
purchasers if there is sufficient demand for a reprint.

On Saturday 17th March 2001 at Great Rollright Village Hall the
Great Rollright History Group launched a book entitled 'ROLLRIGHT PAST &
PRESENT'.
The promotion note that I received described it as 'It comprises over 270 pages
of informative text and in excess of 80 pictures of Great and Little Rollright.
The topics covered, include the two parish churches, the layout of St Andrew's
churchyard, the village primary school, the wars, the parish council and much of
the social history of the two villages.'
The book costs 12.99 UKP plus postage and package. I've made enquiries about the
P&P and the following amounts have been put forward (based on cost):
'small package/airmail'
For any other destination, David Wraight (see below) will supply
a figure.

I have checked my records of the Great Rollright graves taken in
1987 against the information in Appendix 4 of the new book. I have the following
differences:
A15 Ann Baughan wife of Henry died 9th January 1681/2
A25 This ones needs further checking. I only had reference to William but that
could be wrong. The date I have is 2705/1804 and that ties in with the burial
record for Elizabeth.
A19 Henry Baughan died on 26/05/1880
A14 Jane is correct. But the grave (it's the unusual square pedestal) also
included John (12/03/1779), the husband, and William (30/07/1809), a son.
A24 William Baughan died 06/07/1843
A26 Elizabeth Baughan (nee Williams) was first married to William Carpenter and
then to Thomas Baughan.
The Unicorn was built a little earlier than 1846, as described in the Will (it's
in MS Word format) of William
Baughan.
